Rocky

“Rocky” tells the story of a struggling boxer that unexpectedly gets a title shot against the world champion. Sylvester Stallone pulls double duty as the film’s star and screenwriter. The movie was such a big hit that hit has spawned multiple sequels and a spin-off film series.

Hoop Dreams

“Hoop Dreams” is a sports documentary that follows the lives of two aspiring basketball players throughout their entire high school career. The young kids from the inner city of Chicago are forced to overcome many obstacles on a daily basis in hopes of making it to the NBA. Making it big is their only hope to remove their families from poverty. No film portrays the importance of sports better than “Hoop Dreams.”

Foxcatcher

Olympic wrestling may not be a very popular sport, but it was at the center of one of the most interesting sports stories of all time. “Foxcatcher” tells the true story of John Du Pont’s time training two Olympic wrestling hopefuls. The story unexpectedly ends in tragedy after the eccentric du Pont develops a complicated relationship with both wrestlers.

Bull Durham

Minor league baseball players are often ignored or unknown until they reach the big leagues. The tough lives of these aspiring superstars is accurately displayed in “Bull Durham.” The film follows a prized prospect as he learns to conquer his inner demons and love the sport of baseball with the guidance of his veteran teammate.
